| not in season |
Here it is day 11 and we are starting to run out of fresh foods - milk and fruit and vegetables.
Here are a couple of tables where you can find some fresh food in your local area and what is in season for your area. Just find your area -
I will use this list to my $$ advantage - this money is tight. Local seasonal food is much cheaper than buying something out of season, shipped in from another country like strawberries from Mexico.
Northern California has in season:

What's IN SEASON in your area?

You know...I'm not sure what's in season here in Washington state. I know I can grow a killer crop of snow peas...but, it's so wet that they rot on the vine before I get time to pick them. Our growing season doesn't really start for the good stuff until June. That's when I'm all over the farmers markets for heirloom tomatoes. I'm going to look for some New Zealand spinach this year, as well...I bought a bunch of it last year, blanched and froze it and it's delightful!
